Training for Excellence 8 - Hidalgo

Hello everyone. I hope you and your family are well. With everything going on, we will posting updates on the blog. In the meantime, it is important to stay active for your physical and mental health. We did a lot of body weight exercising in class that you could do at home. As well, getting outside for a walk or shovelling the driveway is a great alternative!
Take care and be active!

Grade 5-6 has finished their first paint.NET assignment.  Now, before we continue, we are practicing our 3D designing.  Students who successfully model something to completion will have the opportunity to 3D print it. A link to the program 123D is available on my previous post for free.

Grade 7-8 ANIMATION
7s are done their frame by frame assignment.  Next, we will be working on tweens.  Here is a video of the lesson if you wish to get ahead/review the concept of tweens.

8s have finished their buttons and coding assignment.  Now, we will move into Movie Clip embedding.  Here is a video to that lesson.  I will also do a review on Monday, March 16.

Grade 9 has finished their keyframing assignment.  Now, we are moving onto green screening.  Students are asked to film footage on Monday, so they are ready to go.  Lesson to follow.

Thalheimer Outdoor Ed 7 & Training 9

Outdoor Education 7
This week we had the privilege of having an Avalanche Box at the school. In the box there were Avalanche Transceivers and so both classes were outside each day playing with the transceivers hiding and searching for them on the school grounds. This upcoming week they will need to finish their Wildlife Safety Presentation and be prepared to start presenting the following week.

Training for Excellence in Sport 9
This week both classes continued to work through the Workout Log Sheet I provided them at the beginning of the term. This sheet introduces the students to a variety of different weight lifting and bodyweight exercises in order to prepare them to plan their own workout plan. This upcoming week both classes will be tasked with designing and completing their individual workout plans that each student will then follow for a short period of time afterwards.

We are starting the robot project in which students are learning to draw using a model and starting from basic shapes. As we move along, students will learn to use chalk pastel and basic shading.

Most have handed in their tile project and we will start conferencing next week for feedback and analysis of their work.

Art 7

We have started conferencing on the basic shape projects for feedback and analysis. The one-point perspective project is moving along well and students are personalizing their work in choosing the medium and how to show their understanding.
